Tour the HIMSS 2010 Healthcare Conference with InteractiveMD

I could hear a buzz of excitement streaming through the halls of Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center last week, as our team from InteractiveMD took part in one of the most significant events in the world of healthcare and information technology. The Annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Conference and Exhibition – commonly known as HIMSS - is recognized as one of the world’s largest and most respected healthcare IT exhibitions. Without question, this is where the industry’s rock stars come to play.
Led by InteractiveMD’s President Sam Shatz, we shared the mission and vision of our revolutionary Telehealth platform with some of the titans of the technology space, including Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Dell and AT&T. Each of these meetings was extremely motivating to us, not only because they illustrated how others are applying technologies to improve healthcare access, but also because of the interest and high marks we received on our platform and consumer-focused Telehealth model.

Each of these exhibitors varied widely in their content focus – from high-definition video conferencing, to the latest in mobile apps, to new patient data exchange systems, and more – but one thing seemed very clear…few organizations are laser focused on meeting the rising demand for affordable, round-the-clock access to healthcare from any remote location. The InteractiveMD model of delivering best-in-class physicians direct to the consumer was distinctive from the range of healthcare and tech companies on display.

Among the most compelling exhibits were those delivered by the two EMR giants (that’s Electronic Medical Records, for the newcomers). Microsoft had its HealthVault prominently featured while just 100 feet away, Google Health touted its latest features as they celebrated their 2 year anniversary. Personally, I was most impressed with the latest generation of mobile medical apps that were available, empowering patients to self-monitor and self-manage their care from alternative locations. One even included a high definition ultrasound, which completely blew me away!

If you’re in the healthcare, technology, or related fields, we highly recommend that you attend the 2011 conference in Orlando. We hope to see you there. Be sure to visit our blog next week to take a quick spin through the halls of HIMSS10 by checking out our short video tour. Until then…
